Once lining the main streets of New Braunfels were numerous mansions built by the successful German entrepreneurs at the end of the 19th and early 20th century. Many of these fell during the post-World War II period when high costs and replacement of failing roofs and other elements made upkeep too costly One of these mansions was the Holz-Timmerman house, located at 417 West San Antonio Street. Built in a classical revival style, the house was two stories with double peaked roof porticos supported by clusters of corinthian columns at each corner. A recent article by Tara Kohlenberg, appeared in the Herald Zeitung and is linked here.
